Driving south from Seattle, we hit all the major volcanoes, from Rainier to Hood, and managed to have a lot of fun on the West Coast

Reflection-less Reflection Lake

As some may have noticed, from B.C. To Oregon, fires have severely decreased air quality in the air and reduced visibility. That means no reflections here at Reflection Lake, but that doesn't mean we can't enjoy the views

Reflection Lake seemed like a hotspot for photographers and the views are mesmerizing, even more so on a clear day

The smoke from surrounding fires decreased the quality of my photos but that doesn't mean I couldn't enjoy myself

Hiking Rainier

From Paradise, there are several wonderful hikes. However Skyline and Dead Horse were amazing and on top of that, early August is peak wildflower season, making our trip so much better

The ground squirrels here love pizza, but don't like broccoli or apples. Just a tip

The colors of all the wildflowers made the walk so much better. We were constantly looking at at all the flora

Mt St Helens made for an excellent sunset shot, right before our tire popped in the middle of nowhere and we had to spend 3 hours waiting for roadside assistance. Fun!

Our Second Volcano

Volcanoes seem to be becoming a trend so far, as Mt. Hood sprawls itself in front of our car, and we see the deep river gorges carved across the land

Mt. Hood is perhaps my favorite mountain ever, being so photogenic

This dry riverbed made a good foreground and a fun place to stretch our legs on the way south to Bend

Finally arriving in Bend, the sunsets from atop of Pilot Butte, yet another volcano, made a long drive worth it

Nature and History Merge

Here at Newberry National Volcanic Monument, we saw huge piles of volcanic rocks, collections of Obsidian and a cool waterfall, all in one place!

Right next to the visitors center is this proportional volcano and a field of rocks along with it, both hundreds of thousands of years old

This waterfall cascades into a pool at the bottom that we, unfortunately, could not swim in, but you can!

Crater Lake

The destination of this vacation is the bluest lake in the world and the deepest. Driving around the rim is a great way to see the whole crater of Mazama Volcano

Swimming in the Lakes

Today being our last day, we went to 2 lakes to go swimming, and then had dinner in Portland at Mediterranean Exploration Company
